MODERN BEAUTY -
The journey began while owners Amber Amici and Joanna Gruszka, two seasoned stylist-barbers, had been working together for several years at a busy Edgebrook salon. After the salon's unexpected closure in early 2017, they were left to find their new path. While the ladies had relocated nearby, they received a phone call with an opportunity of a lifetime from a woman named Louise, owner of Edgebook's 'Salon Louise'. Louise decided, after a very long successful career behind the chair, that she was ready to retire and pass her legacy over to them. Soon after their purchase of the building on Central avenue with the black and white striped awning, is when 'Salon Louise' became the 'Edgebrook Parlor'.
A lot of thought and love went into the creation of Edgebrook Parlor. Because of the building being the home of this treasure for over 40 years, the vision was to keep the upscale salon atmosphere while creating a "modern" take of an old school beauty parlor along with some elements from a traditional barbershop.
Aesthetically, the salon is filled with many unique one of a kind design features. A custom made front desk, retail shelving, and barber station. A hot pink and teal neon sign shaped like bobby pins, handmade art pieces and an ever growing collection of vintage hair tools, to name a few. They also felt they wanted to honor the neighborhood by naming the salon after the community that has been so supportive for many years, Edgebrook.
